Who's this guy?

ACTOR | DANCER | SINGER
Alan Toney (he/him) is an actor, producer, storyteller, director, and a lover of storytelling. With his two favorite things to do being laughing and dancing, you can definitely catch him doing either one while you’re in his presence. He has been a lover of the stories since he could talk and has no plan of stopping anytime soon. He is most drawn to authentic characters that help us to understand the complexities of our humanity, intelligence, vulnerability, our pursuit of finding and exploring love.

Born and raised in the 901, Memphis, TN, Alan first found his passion for performance while singing in church and school choirs, taking various acting workshop classes, and break dancing to Michael Jackson songs.. He eventually learned that one could do all three things simultaneously, and he auditioned and was cast in his high school production of Andrew Lippa’s Big Fish. It was only up from there; his inner artist came out.

He went on to get his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he not only excelled in the School of Communication Studies but made his professional theatre debut at The Clarence Brown Theatre on the UT-Knoxville campus.

He then went on to pursue his Master of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Florida’s School of Theatre and Dance. During his time he was able to both perform in and direct productions, as well as teach theory and technique both inside and outside of the university.

Since graduating, he has served as an Associate Resident Company member with Playhouse on the Square, as well as an Acting Company member at the Texas Shakespeare Festival.

He is excited to pursue his craft and build his career as a professional actor, director, teacher, and creative, as well as shine his light on the world through love, connection, specificity, and joy.
